The organisation and creation of Qi’Lin Chinese Restaurant was the result of the collaboration between two of the business partners, Daryll Scott and Annette Cheung. The two had met while each was studying an MBA at the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba. With Annette’s working experience as an interior design consultant in Hong Kong, she focused on the design of the restaurant, planning of menus and training of staff. Daryll with his management and financial accounting experience gained while in the Royal Australian Air Force, concentrated on the financial and regulatory planning requirements.
Since opening the restaurant in February 2008, the operators of Qi’Lin have always strived to maintain consistently high standards, not only with the quality of the meals and service but also with the ambiance of the restaurant. As a result, in 2009, Qi’Lin was the winner of the Best Chinese Restaurant in the Darling Downs region awarded by the Restaurant and Catering Association of Australia (RCA). Since then, Qi’Lin has been the recipient of many industry awards culminating in being named Best Chinese Restaurant in Queensland by the RCA for six consecutive years from 2012 to 2017 inclusive. Qi’Lin has been included as a recommended restaurant in the Toowoomba/ Darling Downs region in the 17th edition of The Lonely Planet’s Guide to Australia.
Qi’Lin’s current menu provides 139 choices which include many traditional Chinese dishes as well as innovative chef’s speciality dishes. Qi’Lin management and staff have always strived to fulfil their ongoing commitment in providing a reasonably priced, quality eating establishment for loyal customers.
Community Involvement
The restaurant’s community involvement has been, and continues to be, in the form of donations, via vouchers, to registered charities and community groups looking to raise funds for worthwhile causes.
