This classic Art Deco Hotel was built in 1943 after the original Grand Hotel and the Goomeri Post Office were taken by fire in 1939.
Goomeri Village is located in the wine region of the South Burnett, at the junction of the Wide Bay Highway from the coast and Gympie and the Burnett Highway, almost centrally between Brisbane and Gladstone. The Bunya Highway from Kingaroy and Murgon also links into Goomeri just below town.
The Queensland pub that became a great South Burnett hotel
This South Burnett Hotel has been totally renovated and now has a spacious open bar and adjoining bistro with fantastic food. The bar and bistro both open out on to covered decks, the perfect place for an afternoon drink.
Upstairs, our traditional Queensland hotel accommodation, fully renovated and rebuilt, harks back to the charm of a bygone era. We can accommodate up to 40 people in a combination of doubles and twin singles. Like all Queensland pubs of yesteryear we have opted for external shared bathrooms and toilets, just a few steps from your room. This traditional approach has many benefits including highly competitive room rates that start as low as $50 per night.
BAR & BISTRO
Joe's Bar and Bistro is a real change of pace for visitors to the South Burnett's Barambah Valley wine region. Our regular patrons travel from all around the Cooloola Shire and South Burnett, including the nearby towns of Murgon, Wondai, Kilkivan and Kingaroy, with weekend travelers from the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane.
Like all traditional Queensland Pubs, the central focus was always on a huge bar area for local South Burnett workers, farmers and drinkers, supported with a basic nook for meals. At Joe's Grand Hotel we have completely revamped this concept, still retaining the large bar area, but linking it to a large open plan bistro lounge and outdoor dining deck. Our bistro and seated area can comfortably seat 70 diners.
