Besser is a specialty coffee brew bar and cafe which focuses on great coffee, delicious food and friendly yet exceptional customer service. We opened in February 2016 in Darwin’s main industrial hub of Winnellie. Besser is our second venture, we (co-owners Lisa Heames and Adam and Danni Mann) are also the trio behind Laneway Speciality Coffee in Parap.
Monday to Saturday we serve up breakfast and lunch; there’s our house baked cocoa pops with baked puffed brown rice; spiced smashed pumpkin with feta, soft poached egg, baba ganoush & hazelnut & almond dukkah. For the less health-conscious, try a Louisiana fried chicken burger with maple aioli; or jalapeño waffles with slow cooked pulled pork, poached egg, asparagus, fennel & apple cider hollandaise.
We offer corporate catering services for functions, workshops, meetings, training sessions and events. We are happy to deliver our range of freshly prepared sandwiches, specialty cakes and pastries, juices and of course, coffee. As the name suggests, Besser Kitchen and Brew Bar pays tribute to the building’s industrial heritage, built from concrete Besser blocks. We employed local interior design studio, VDesigned to help open up the space and create a place for locals to come together. The once corporate office is now filled with natural light, high ceilings and bespoke joinery with polished concrete and natural wood finishes. Shared communal dining is encouraged with long tables for large groups and families, while custom-made plywood seating caters for those dropping by for takeaway.
